Math and Science Lab update

For the past two weeks, we have been working really hard in the math lab.  Fourth through sixth graders are working on their multiplication facts with timed test.  Everyone is trying to improve their time and accuracy.  The second and third graders are working on addition and subtraction.  They are also trying to improve their time.
In science lab, the first graders have been exploring the sense of taste.  We had much fun with our tasting party.  Sweet and salty were the over all favorites.  Second graders are learning all about sound.  Watching the rice bounce on the big drum was exciting.  In third grade we have been studying life cycles.  We enjoyed making the four stages of a butterfly with pasta.  Fourth graders are still studying about the earth.  They made colorful booklets containing many of our natrual resources.  Fifth graders are studying invertebrates.  The class enjoyed the worm dissection.  It was a gummy worm that we were able to eat after the activity.  Sixth graders are still busy with the microscopes.  This week we looked into a drop of pond water in search of one -celled organisms.
